thoughts on tfios (bc ive seen you talking about it on my dash): the book is decent. definitely better than the movie (which relies WAY too heavily on romantic tropes and takes itself far, far too seriously). honestly, it's not even one of john green's better books. and HOLY SHIT JOHN gREENS HEAD IS SO OUT OF CONTROL INFLATED rn. but overall, there have been worse stories (just like there have been better ones)

Again I can’t speak to John Green’s writing having never read his books so I can neither agree/disagree with you on that. I’ve heard about what he’s said recently, but I have also read his apology so you know what, I’d be willing to cut him a break (unless he’s said other things of which I haven’t heard of yet, but also I don’t care about him enough to spend my energy being mad at him anyway.)

And yes, there’re definitely good and bad stories from – I feel like it’s safe to say – every author. I’ll definitely give the book a chance although I’ve heard from various people how the book isn’t as great as everyone makes it out to be too, so I can’t say I’m expecting much of it. I’d already gone into this movie with low expectations, and somehow it managed to disappoint me further. It wasn’t entirely bad though. There were a very limited number of scenes where I was like, okay this is somewhat decent. And then the very next minute something super cheesy happens/is said and I’m like, nope I’m outta here.
